CALL FOR NUMBERS AND A *SPECIAL* GIVEAWAY

Hey all.  I'm sure you've been super busy perusing our NEW WEBSITE.  Isn't it awesome???

This is a big week for ANWA and for the ANWA Summer Challenge.  That's right ladies, we officially reach our half-way mark THIS SUNDAY!!!

To celebrate, we're going to have a special giveaway for a $15 AMAZON GIFT CARD, plus some extra ANWA swag just because we love you.

You can be entered THREE TIMES into this drawing:
1- post your numbers here on the blog (required)
2- leave an extra comment on the blog telling us your favorite thing you've written so far
3- tweet or post about it on the ANWA Facebook and Twitter pages- let's give our ANWA sisters who haven't joined the challenge a little motivation to jump in (especially since we'll only be at 5,000 by Sunday, so catching up is a snap).

That's it.  Happy writing!

  1. I was able to squeak in 800 words even though I had a family reunion. The favorite thing I wrote was a piece in my journal about a particularly inspiring verse in the Book of Mormon. I love the gift of personal revelation.

  2. Rough week for writing with my daughter coming home from her mission, but I managed about 1500 words!

  3. Here is my extra comment on the blog: what I enjoyed writing the most: I enjoyed writing in my journal the most and second would be hand writing letters.

  4. 4627 words this week for me! Favorite thing I wrote... hmm... probably a scene where two rough-and-tumble cowboy types get stuck sorting through a pile of lacy bloomers. That was pretty hilarious.

  5. Only wrote about 1500 words this week, all of them in my journal. Not a great week for writing, but a good week for other things. My favorite thing I wrote about was a neat funeral I was privileged to attend, for my mother's cousin who lived a great life and raised a remarkably close-knit family.

  6. And if I win this week, can I just post that with my gift card I plan to buy Janette's newest book?

  7. I've got about a thousand words this week. But since the week is still young, and I'm sitting around 11,293 words on my new project... I don't think I'm doing too badly.

  8. As for my favorite bits that I've written so far on this project... I rather like the attack of hideous creatures on one of my character's houses while they're having dinner in the kitchen.

  9. This is really DeAnn Huff. I'm at 12,000 words for the challenge! My favorite scene is one in which a character meets his grandmother for the first time-a grandmother he never knew he had.

  10. I'm a little behind where I should be. My total so far is 4256.

But this coming week, I have a mini retreat, during which I should crank out a ton of words!

  11. Favorite part written so far:
A scene between the 2 MCs (both women) that ended up more touching and sweet than I'd expected.

  12. I'm finally getting back to the blog to check in. New words happened. It's a miracle. Counting my journal entries, I'm at 5300-ish.

  14. My favorite writing for the week is actually today's new words. A brand new short/novella that has a basis in my family history.

  15. Wait. Did it just eat my post? If so, I just joined the 100 word thingy and I wrote 1,394 words today on my missionary book, which is my favorite work right now.

  16. I haven't kept track but at least 500.

  17. My favorite thing I've written recently involves my MC and a dogpile with some card-playing characters.

  18. Thanks to the Nightscrawlers retreat, I'm at just over 1500 words for this week. That's good since I've got some catching up to do before Sunday.

  19. My favorite thing I've written? "When life gives you lemons, eat doughnuts instead." That right there is sage advice, ladies.

  20. 2000 words this week. I took a break from my main story and wrote a scene that has been in my head for a different story. Why is it so hard to finish one thing before starting a new one? :)

  21. Favorite thing I've written-I established rules for my paranormal manuscript, so that I am consistent in my story.

  22. I'm sitting at a little under 400. About half of that is for my wip. Still counts!!

  23. This week I got in 2,301 words and I'm working on a new short story collection that I'm excited about.

  24. I got in a total word count of about 1250 this week on my Regency romance novel.

  25. I got 6,380 words in at our Nightscrawlers retreat over the weekend. I loved that my critique partners were there to help me get through a couple tough scenes. Love this organization!!!

  26. Do we hold this for a week or do we post every day? I've been editing today so I only got 248 so far. I just wanted to post before it got to be...you know...midnight. Well they do call it NIGHT WRITERS.

  27. Is this even the place where we announce our Grand Word Counts? 'Cause I don't see herds and herds of people plopping down numbers every day. Am I doing it wrong? If not, I've got 454 so far today. And if so, somebody stop me...rofl

  28. 302 today since I was at Cub Camp all day.

  29. I'm new and excited. I just saw this a couple days ago and jumped on it since I haven't been able to all summer. I have typed in my story in the computer and only started counting words when I saw this. If it doesn't't count because it's typed from written instead of just written it's okay. It's been great to get back in the Saddle per say. I have 8602 and still going so excited! It's a fiction dedication to my dad.
