Welcome to ANWA's Summer Writing Challenge!

Oh, what do you do in the summertime, when all the world is...

Do you...

Or...
And watch as...
Is that what you do?

NOPE!

***WE WRITE ***

ANWA's Summer Writing Challenge: 100 Words For 100 Days starts today!

It's hard to find time to write when the world is green and we want to fish in a stream, or lazily dream, and watch as the clouds go by.

Sometimes we just need a little extra encouragement.  So starting today and ending September 8th, ANWA is challenging YOU to write 100 WORDS FOR 100 DAYS.

And what better way to kick off this challenge than
A  GIVEAWAY!

Join the summer challenge and be automatically entered into a drawing for a $15 Amazon gift card.

There's 3 simple steps:

1. Join the ANWA Summer Writing Challenge FB event. Go to the ANWA FB page, click on the events button at the top, click on the ANWA Summer Writing Challenge, and join the event (all ANWA members have been previously invited to this-- so if these instructions don't work then check your email for the invite). You'll get notices when we do giveaways, occasional tips on writing, and be able to share your experiences with your fellow ANWA summer writers.

2. Leave a comment here telling us what you plan to write this summer-- a book (genre is always fun too), a journal, a blog-- and you'll be automatically entered into our drawing.  Make sure to include a way to contact you if you win in your comment.

3. Be awesome.

(The drawing will end Tuesday, June 3rd at 11:59 pm.  Must be able to receive an amazon gift code by email. Winners will be announced and notified next week.)

Remember, the ultimate goal is to have 10,000 words written by the end of the summer- so if you miss a day or choose to skip Sundays don't worry. The beauty of only writing 100 words each day is that it's easy to catch up if you miss some time.

REPORTING YOUR NUMBERS:
Every MONDAY we will publish a blog post requesting your WEEKLY totals.  We're operating on the honor system here ladies.  Leave a comment on the post HERE ON THE BLOG (not on FB) by Tuesday 11:59 pm.

If you don't know your exact totals, but you know you've reached your goal for the week, then just post the estimate.  For example, this next Monday (June 9th) will be day #9 and you should be at 900 words by the end of the day, so post 900+ if you've written at least that amount.

Everyone who posts their totals will be entered into a WEELY drawing for signed books, swag, etc!  The winner will be announced on the blog on Thursday of that week, along with some helpful writing tips from the ANWA Board of Directors.

GOOD LUCK AND HAPPY WRITING!!!

  10. I'll be working on my fourth book this summer. It's a YA fantasy-adventure novel based on Norse mythology and Vikings (it's so much fun to research)! Since I'm only 11,000 words in so far, I have plenty left to write. I'm hoping to finish the first draft by the end of summer, and this challenge will keep me writing every day. Speaking of, I better get to work. . .

  13. My current manuscript (71k words) has some type of a glitch in it. It is inserting weird lines on almost every page. I have tried everything I can think of to fix it. So, I'll will be retyping the whole thing and editing as I go. Thanks for doing this.

  19. I will be working on book 4 of my Regency series, the Rogue Hearts series.

  20. This is soooo what I've needed to push me. I'm going to be working on my 2nd book in my YA series. And I've got a new YA book that I've been tossing around and trying to figure out how I want to go.

  21. I'll be finishing my current novel, GONE FOR A SOLDIER, working on re-writes, and launching into my new novel, THE ZION TRAIL. I'll also do blog posts.

    ReplyDelete
  22. With any luck, I'll finish drafting this historical fiction book, tentatively titled CRUCIBLE OF ICE. So excited to see this unfold!

  23. This will encourage me to add word count to my historical romance/suspense novel.

  24. Well, to start off the summer I will be writing blog posts and query letters. Soon I will be editing and rewriting a couple of romance novels as well. Wish me luck!

  25. Love this idea! Thanks for putting it together. I'm revising a couple books--one that I wrote the rough draft of really fast so it needs quite a few words still. Once I get that done, I'll start drafting book #3 in my new Wedding Planner Mystery series.

  26. I'll be rewriting my YA urban fantasy novel during the week and Sundays will be spent working on my blog. Thanks so much for giving me the kick in the pants I need.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I'll work on my contemporary "proper" romance, journal, and blog.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I'll be blogging and working on changing my women's fiction POV to first person.

  29. 200 words today and I worked on my outline for Camp NaNoWriMo next month. Not a huge accomplishment but more than I would have got done without this challenge.

  30. I will be blogging for myself on my personal blog, and also for Distinguished Young Women of Arizona. I will also be writing in my journal, and fine-tuning the children's stories I started too long ago (I can't believe I haven't finished them, yet!). I'm shocked at how quickly one hundred words zoom by. I swear it'll be the death of me to stick within a word limit, but I need a number to force my vernacular to benefit! Do hyphenated words and contractions both count as one word words? Because if they do, I have already met my one-hundred-word-goal-for-the-day-in-this-comment-post-alone-even-tho-I-have-more-things-to-say-and-oh-my-gosh-I'm-really-going-to-be-in-trouble-if-these-hyphens-don't-technically-and-automatically-turn-any-multi-word-words-into-a-one-word-category-oh-well-you-live-and-learn-right?-PS-PICK-ME-FOR-THE-GIVEAWAY!

  31. I'll be editing my nearly-done novel and digging up a new one. Plus blogging and stuff. This is a perfect goal. Totally doable!

  32. Because of the natural beauty of the room which had thick floor-length curtains and a stone fireplace, we were able to get away with very minimal decorations.

  33. I'm finishing polishing THE DAY IT RAINED GLASS and starting my honey badger book. In fact I wrote 1267 on that today and have probably 3000 for last week. I'm slowly catching up.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I still get the feeling I'm posting in the wrong place. But here goeth. I'm up to 6965 on my honey badger book as of right now. So add that to the 3000 from before, that gives me almost 10,000 words. I'll have that by tonight.
